What is Collateral?
COLLATERAL is something that has value of the bond amount like money, property, etc. ..that you deposit with the bail bond company. The collateral is held until the case is completed. As Indemnitor, you are financially responsible for the bail bond. As long as the person you bail out makes all of their court appearances, you will not have to pay any money in addition to the premium. The collateral will be returned when the defendant has finished going to court and has received a disposition.
If the person skips bail and we are not able to return that person to court, you will be required to pay the full amount of the bail. If we are able to return them to court, you will be required to reimburse us for actual expenses incurred.
Is collateral always needed to secure a bail bond?

What will I need in order to secure a bail bond?
In addition to the required bail bond premium, you will need proper identification, such as a pay-stub or other verification of employment. The bail bond agent will also need personal information from you, such as your social security number, birth date, driver's license number, address, phone numbers, employer's name, address and phone, and any other information deemed necessary to help determine whether you qualify as an indemnitor (co-signer).
Is the bail bond premium refundable?
Once the bail bond is posted and accepted by a court or jail, liability is taken on the bail bond company. At that point, the bail bond premium is fully earned and is not refundable.
How long does it take for a defendant to be released from jail?
After all of the paperwork is completed, the bail agent will present the bail bond to the court, jail, or county facility. Normally, the amount of time it takes the court, jail, or county fascility to process the bail bond varies based on the workloads and size of the Fasciliy. There also could be additional factors outside the control of the bail bond agency at the jail or court. Once the bail bond is presented to the jail or court, the bail bond agent will contact the indemnitor to advise the timeline for the defendant's release. A relative or friend will need to pick up the person or in some fascility they will not be released until the morning.
How much does a bail bond cost?
Most bail bond premiums (fee) start at ten percent of the full bail amount. For example, if the full bail amount is $25,000.00, the premium for the bail bond is $2,500.00. These fees are established by the surety companies and regulated by the Department of Insurance.
